Shouldered Repair Weld Washer

Description

A repair weld washer drops into a 1″ hole and rebuilds a bolt hole that has egged out. Weld one into a fresh tab instead, and that hole never eggs out at all.

Repair Weld Washer — Features and Specs

• 1018 CR steel. That means consistent hardness and clean machining on every piece.
• Flange measures 1.50″ diameter and .25″ thick. The shoulder adds another .25″ for .50″ total thickness.
• We machine the bore instead of drilling it. So the tolerance holds tighter than a drill bit can hold it.
• A 45° lead-in chamfer guides the bolt in. It’s the same detail you’ll find on high-end hardware.
• Bore options are 9/16″, 5/8″, and 3/4″. Each one takes a standard bolt of that size.
• Ships as raw steel.
• Every bore size ships as a 4-pack.

One 1″ Hole Covers Every Size

Here’s the part that saves time. The shoulder measures .99″ on all three bores. So one 1″ hole fits every size in the set. Drill it once, and any bore option drops right in. When you keep all three sizes on the shelf, that’s one bit instead of three.

How It Goes In

Installation takes a few minutes. Drill or step-drill the tab to 1″ and clean up the edge. Drop the washer in from the flange side, then check that it sits flat. Weld around the flange perimeter and you’re done.

We designed these around 1/4″ tab material. On a 1/4″ tab the shoulder fills the hole flush. That gives you 1/2″ of material on the bolt shank. Thicker or thinner tabs work too — the shoulder just won’t sit flush.

Where It Gets Used

These are universal, so they work anywhere a bolt passes through a tab or bracket. Track bar mounts are the classic one, since that hole takes constant load and wallows out over time. Leaf spring hangers, lower control arm mounts, and sway bar links all fail the same way. Link brackets and shock tabs are worth doing up front. A repair weld washer is cheap insurance on a bracket you’d rather not build twice. So plenty of builders install them from day one.
