Description
The aluminum mock up bushing is a solid 6061 stand-in puck you put in place of your poly bushing while welding. It sets your bracket width perfectly, then pulls right out so you never melt your polybushings again.
Why Builders Reach for Mock Up Pucks
Welding near a poly bushing is a gamble. The heat melts it, warps it, or ruins the fit you just dialed in. So builders drop in a mock up puck instead. It matches the bushing profile with some added width for a buffer. That means your tabs and brackets weld up right where they belong.
When you finish welding, the puck comes out and the real bushing presses in clean. That’s the whole point — mock up, weld, swap, done.
Aluminum Mock Up Bushing — Specs and Features
- Material: 6061 aluminum. It shrugs off welding heat. It won’t melt or deform like a poly bushing would.
- Bore options: 1/2″ or 9/16″. We machine each bore to size. So it drops straight onto your mockup bolt.
- Chamfered bolt hole. We chamfer the hole, just like our weld spacers. That means your bolt lines up fast and easy.
- Oversized width. The width runs .030″ over the finished bushing. So the real bushing slips in easy once your welds cool.
- Undersized body. The body runs slightly under 1.5″. That means it drops into your housing without fighting you.
- Shouldered profile. The stepped shoulder mirrors a real poly bushing. So your mock up matches the finished joint exactly.
- Sold as a pair. Every order includes two pucks. That covers both sides of a joint in one buy.
Fitment and Use
Every aluminum mock up bushing fits 1.5″ ID bushing housing tubing, and only that size. So check your housing before you order.
Using them is simple. You slide a puck into each end of the housing, run your mockup bolt through, and set your width. Then you tack, weld out, and pull the pucks back out. Because they run slightly loose, they come out without a fight. Your real poly bushings press in after that.
We machine these in-house, Made in the USA. Each order includes the two pucks only. This does not include hardware or a mockup bolt.
